Where was the movie Prey filmed? Will there be a sequel?

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, Prey is a sci-fi action film about a young tribal warrior woman fighting an alien species. In the 18th century, the heroine Naru and her tribe lived in the northern Great Plains. Although she is a gifted stalker, other hunters look down on her because she is a woman. Naru’s older brother, on the other hand, was considered the best hunter in the tribe, and after he hunted down and killed a lion, he was declared the leader. However, Naru believes that the real threat facing the tribe is not a lion, but some completely different monster, and she ventures alone to find out the truth.

After the release of “Prey”, the response was mainly positive. The film’s visuals, storyline, and characterization were well-received. If you’re wondering if there’s going to be a sequel to “Prey,” we’ll tell you.

Prey 2 release date

“Prey” premieres on Hulu in the US on August 5, 2022. The film was released internationally on Disney+ and Star+ in Latin America. “Prey” is the fifth film in the “The Predator” series and a prequel to the first four films, which is also considered a reboot of the entire series. As for the Prey sequel, here’s what we know.

Neither producers nor Hulu executives have confirmed the development of Prey 2. But the end credits of “Ultimate Warrior Beast Hunter” also open up the possibility of a sequel, which isn’t about easter eggs, but as the credits roll and the story is retold through cave-painting-like graphics. Unlike in the movie, this doesn’t stop with Naru becoming her family’s war chief. When Naru and the dog are standing together, a Predator spaceship appears in the sky, possibly bringing other predators to Naru for revenge.

In an interview with (Comic Book Movie), when asked about the possibility of a sequel, director Trachtenberg said: “I think there will definitely be some… It’s refreshing and I hope the film feels complete.”

However, the director went on to add, “That said, we’ve done something very unique in this regard, and while other films might have an end credit egg, our end credits themselves have some story. This creates for a different kind of sequel. I don’t know if we’re ready to say what we want to do next, but I think there are a lot of great opportunities.”

Producer Jhane Myers, who is Aboriginal, told the same outlet that she would love to return to the Predator series. “I want to go back to any world that is natively inclusive and representative, because that’s my world, and I’d love to go back to any indigenous world,” she explained.

Dan Trachtenberg told another outlet in June 2022 that a sequel is likely because they already have a lot of ideas for a sequel. Ultimately it depends on how successful the Ultimate Warrior Beast Hunter is. If all goes well and a sequel is approved in the coming months, audiences can expect Prey 2 to hit theaters sometime in the third quarter of 2024.

Prey 2 Sequel Cast

“Prey” stars Amber Midthunder (NaruNaru), Dane DiLiegro (Predator), Dakota Beavers (Taabe), Michelle Thrush (Aruka), Julian Black Antelope (Chief Kehetu), Bennett Taylor (Raphael) and Mike Paterson (Big Beard).

The characters played by Dakota Beavers, Taylor, and Mike Paterson are all dead, so they probably won’t appear in future sequels, save for flashback scenes. While the predator played by Dane DiLiegro is also dead, he could play other predators in future productions. Amber Midthunder is likely to lead Naru in the sequel, with new additions.

Prey 2 Plot Synopsis

In the “Prey” ending, the predators killed nearly all of the French fur hunters. Taabe fought heroically, but he was also killed. Naru lured the predator with the last fur hunter and killed the predator with his clever mind. She then returned to the tribe with her dog and the predator’s head. At the end of the film, she is named the new leader of the tribe.

Future sequels may have an expanded range, and some predators may come for revenge, prompting the tribe to seek alliances with other tribes on the plains. A sequel could even take place in a completely different context, exploring how people from different parts of the world would respond to such a threat.

Introduction of Prey Filming Locations

“Prey” was shot entirely in Alberta, specifically Calgary, Rafter Six Ranch. Principal filming finally began in June 2021 and ended in September of the same year. Alberta, in the western part of Canada, bordering British Columbia, is known for its natural beauty, rich fossils and several nature reserves. Because of these characteristics, it became the perfect production location for films like Prey.

Several shots were shot in and around Calgary, a large city in Alberta. The cast and crew of the sci-fi film appear to have traveled through the city, recording different segments against these backdrops.

Key parts of “Prey” are recorded in the Stonenakoda First Nation, west of Calgary, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Additionally, some sections were filmed near Calgary near Moose Mountain and the Elbow River. Finally, Rafter Six Ranch was also a key filming location for the action film; it was a farm in the village of Exshaw, Alberta.
